For some women, it can be due to endometriosis, or to adenomyosis; other women may have fibroid tumors that cause the intense pain; and for some women there isn't anything pathological present, they just simply have intense pain with menses.
Your doctor will ask a lot of questions, do a pelvic exam and likely order an ultrasound. May discuss laparoscopy if no other causes are found. Oft. Ocps hel.
