Unfortunately, childbirth can still cause death.
This is usually from bleeding, general anesthesia or stroke. Your best bet to reduce this risk is to start your pregnancy healthy. Eat a balanced diet, exercise and control any medical problems you do have. Nothing can take the risk to zero but you would be surprised how much you can do!
