In brief: Bump
Ice to the bump is important.
If he has a headache, change in vision or the bump is getting bigger, he should check it out

If he lost consciousness or vomits or has any blurry vision, numbness, tingling or confusion, or clear or bloody fluid from his ears or nose he should also go to the ER.
