In brief: Stitches

You will be sutured if needed after the placenta is delivered.

In brief: Shortly after birth

If you need stitches (and not all women or tears do) it is usually done right after delivery, either before or after the placenta is delivered.
Some tears are small enough and are not bleeding, and don't really need any stitches. Rarely women have large tears or tears that are complicated that require a lot of time.
