What is a stress induced coma? Can they breath on their own? What can you tell me about it

In brief: Not much

The concept of "stress-induced coma" has been studied in locusts -- but despite some bloggers commenting about themselves, i don't know of any human studies.
Locusts can enter comas in response to stress. Neural and muscular systems shut down until the stress is removed. Could be an adaptive strategy to survive extreme environmental conditions. Not sure how that applies to these bloggers. :-).
