Having chest pain, hurts in lungs worse when I lay down and coughing with chest congestion?

Go to ER. You should go to er and get yourself checked. There are different reasons that can cause chest pain and cough- however, i think you should be evaluated as soon as possible. Go to er.

Pericarditis. Sounds a lot like pericarditis, which is an inflammation of the sac that surround the heart. A lot of time it is secondary to some other infection, like bronchitis. Call ambulance. Your question doesn't provide enough information to answer accurately (ie. how old is he?), but if he is having heaviness/pressure of the chest with pain then he needs immediate medical attention at an ER to rule out a heart issue. Get him there urgently/call an ambulance. If these symptoms can be directly explained by a chest infection, he would still require assessment and possibly antibiotics. Read more...

Depends. I would need more information, i.e., duration of cough, related symptoms (shortness of breath, heartburn), risk factors (smoking, caffeine, eating before lying down), past history (asthma, gerd). It is possible whatever infection you had resolved, but your airway is still inflamed - a trial of inhaled or oral steroids may help. It is also possible that you have GERD. follow up with your clinician. Read more...
