Why is my period late and lighter?

Many reasons. At 20 there are many reasons for the menstrual period to be late. The most common is simply hormonal changes including pregnancy. Certainly check a pregnancy test. Spotting is very common at the end of normal menses, early or threatened pregnancy, or infections or cancer of the vagina or cervix. If it persists or other symptoms start check with your doctor.
Get a UPT. Then we go from there, people can ovulate irregularly and if not pregnant and on the pill this can change the game as well, good luck.
