Do panic attacks caused by anxiety cause your heart rate to change for short periods of time?

Yes. Anxiety attacks, especially in young women, can lead to heart rates even in the low to mid hundreds. However, sudden starting or stopping, or heart rates over 150 bpm, may suggest an arrhythmia, such as an SVT. Other, rare conditions can cause similar symptoms too. If concerned, consider seeing a heart rhythm specialist. Read more...

Digoxin . You should see your cardiologist who prescribed Digitek (digoxin) and have them evaluate you. You may want to have your Digitek (digoxin) levels checked as well. HR in 40s is low and may make you feel dizzy. I would see the cardiologist asap. . Read more...

I take Inderal (propranolol) 40 mg, 3 times a day, would it be better if I take a 120 mg EXTENDED RELEASE once a day. I take it for a rapid heart rate and blood pressure. Will my pulse rate stay more even through out the day.

Worth trying? Can't. If u r bothered by having to take Inderal (propranolol) 3x/day (perhaps ur working, or forgetting to carry doses w/ you), then it's worthwhile asking ur doc if he can prescribe the extended release (XR) form. While the math works 4 most ppl (40 mg x 3/day = 120 mg XR), some ppl require more & some require less. But 120 mg is a gd starting amt. U may have break-thru, in which case 20mg or 40mg can supplement XR. Read more...

I have hyperactive thyroid but don't take meds. I just experienced a sudden rapid heart rate for the first time ever. I am 39, female. Schedule or ER?

Need to see your doc. If the rapid heart beats are irregular you need to go to the ER, however if the heart beats are regular you need to schedule early appointment with your doctor. First you need to establish the cause of the overactive thyroid ( thyroid uptake & scan).Second you need to start on Beta blocker to relief the symptoms till diagnosis is established. Read more...
