In brief: It depends

One main danger of a seizure is that a person may stop breathing.
That can lead to brain damage and even death, especially if prolonged. Also, there is the risk of something called: aspiration pneumonia caused by inhaling the stomach contents into the lungs from vomiting around the time of the seizure. A child having a seizure could injure her/himself accidentally during the event.

In brief: Evaluation by a

Pediatric neurologist is needed, with an eeg & an MRI of the brain, tho' abnormalities in the area causing seizures may be too small to be seen.
A child with autism has a 2% risk of manifesting epilepsy by age 5 & an 8% risk by age 10. With autism & intellectual disability, the risk increases to 35% by age 5 & 67% by age 10. If he falls when he has a seizure, he could get hurt & may need a helmet.
