In brief: Several

Even uncomplicated cataract surgery increases life time risk of retinal detachment.
Glaucoma can develop. A clouding of the membrane behind the lens can also develop. There are other possibilities and cataract surgery does not eliminate progression of many eye diseases. While many of these are very rare, you should get a yearly eye exam after cataract surgery..

In brief: Cataract complicatio

Cataract Surgery is the safest surgery in world.
Complications are rare & include: post operative inflammation, swelling of macula (CME); PCO: posterior capsular opacification in 10-30% requiring YAG laser (painless usually); slow corneal healing/swollen cornea requiring cornea transplant; Infection (rare); More info: eyedoc2020@blogspot.com

In brief: Long term risks

Posterior capsular opacification (secondary cataract), retinal tears/breaks/detachment, lens implant dislocation, corneal edema, blurred vision, need for additional surgery.
Overall change of problems after uncomplicated surgery is incredibly small though.
