The best way to prevent a scar is to not get a cut! having said that, the face is very vascular and heals very well with little intervention.
Once a scar is healing then shea butter, cocoa butter, vit e or some cream like that is helpful to rub on twice a day. The gentle rubbing helps break down scar tissue and enable reforming while helping the scar minimize. Time is a great healer!

Thus generally correct but if the cut goe from lip to norma skin it should be seen by a plastic surgeon because that kind of lesion can cause a misshaping of the lips
