We do not use cortisone anymore for steroid injection as its effect is generally short (4 hours.). More common steroid preparations are methprednisolone or triamcinolone. It also depends if you had a series of injections or just one. Depending on how severe your radiculopathya, the effect could be less than a month to about 6 months or more.
