I'm trying to quit smoking, but failed every time. The nicotine patches don't help. Should i be in counseling or some program?

In brief: Might help

Behavioral counseling has been shown to be effective in the treatment of smoking.
It is also often covered by insurance and is typically brief in duration. Florida offers free programs including group settings; you can find them at www.Tobaccofreeflorida.Com. The first 3 days are the absolute worst and the first 3 weeks are the most critical. Maybe set your goal for 3 days to start.

In brief: You can try!

Congrats on trying to quit! counseling/programs may help you, especially since you seem determined to quit! they can give you tips and support that you may not have had before.
There are also other methods you can try, such as the electronic cigarette or medications that help. Hypnosis has helped some, and acupuncture maybe. Don't give up!

In brief: Valency line

Nicotene works by temporarily opening channels for the conduction of acetylcholine.
This is part of the Dopamine pathway. When inhaled it works differtly getting to the brain more quickly. As you become addicted you are dependant on the nicotine to open these channels. Varencyline (chantix) goes in a keeps those receptors open. This is your best bet but may need a low dose, .5mg for prolonged.
