In brief: Consider chest CT

Do you smoke? If you do, then stop.
Your doctor can help you do this. If you have a history of smoking, your doctor could consider ordering a chest ct. If you have never smoked, your coughing is less likely to be a symptom of lung cancer. Depending on duration & associated symptoms (fever, runny nose, etc), other more likely causes include allergies or infection. Above all, tell your doctor.

In brief: Cardiac evaluation

A "family history" of lung cancer often means multiple family members smoked.
At least on chest x-ray (cxr) there doesn't sound like evidence of lung cancer. However, the heart is abnormal. I'm not sure how congestive heart failure (CHF) has been ruled out. Need ct chest possibly, echocardiogram, bnp, and cardiologist evaluation. In some cases a heart biopsy is done.
