In brief: Venous insufficiency

Chances are, your ultrasound looked for a clot in the deep vein system. However, if there is reflux in the superficial system, you can get swelling.
You likely need to exam the superficial system with ultrasound. Find a physician treating varicose veins in your area. Or come to houston and see me! http://www.Vnus.Co.Uk/images/venous_saphenous_lrg.Jpg.
