In brief: Thirsty
Children with diabetes often present with weight loss (although they are hungry all the time!), thirst and an increase in urination frequency- they may start getting up a couple times each night to go to the bathroom.

In brief: Increased Urination
The first symptoms or signs that are usually noticed in a diabetic child is increased drinking and frequency of urination; however, the majority of children presenting with these symptoms do not have diabetes.
They may also have increasd appetite, weight loss, and be more lethargic at times.
