Neck pain commonly refers to the shoulder. Initially resting the neck/shoulder, using moist heat, and taking a short course of anti-inflammatory can help.
Once the pain is better you will want to gradually increase your range of motion. If your pain lasts greater than 2 weeks see your physician as there may be other treatment options including therapy and injections.
