My bf has bronchitis and started treatment (sans antibiotics) yesterday. Tonight his temperature shot up to 102.7. What should his next steps be?

In brief: See MD

Most cases of broncitis are due to viral infections.
These are usually not associated with fevers as high as you describe. Your friend should see a doctor and be checked for influenza( which could be treated with tamiflu (oseltamivir) or relanza) or a bacterial pneumonia that would require antibiotic treatment.
