I'm trying to conceive my first baby since october and I started taking folic acid then. Is that ok or should I wait til I am actually pregnant?

Perfect. Folic acid (vitamin b9) supplements should be taken prior to conception. Best evidence shows a benefit when taken up to 3 months prior to pregnancy. Normal dose is .4 to .8 mg/day & is found in most prenatal vitamins. Women who have a pregnancy affected by spina bifida or any neural tube defect should take higher doses (4 mg/day). I hope that helps, take care.
