In brief: One

Canine teeth are usually one canal.
Typically when a root canal is completed, a temporary filling is placed in the hole that was made in back if the tooth to access the root. If you are carefull , this temporary may last a couple weeks to a year before the tooth becomes brittle and fractures. It depends on the pre existing condition if the tooth before the root canal.

In brief: Canine or Molar?

The canine has one canal.
A molar has 3-4-5 canals. Each canal needs to be properly treated. A temporary cavit filling should not remain past 2 weeks. The tooth needs be restored in a permanent fashion otherwise you risk further damage that may lead to loosing this tooth.

In brief: 1 canal

Typically this tooth has only one canal.
You should always get the canal access sealed with a more permanent filling as soon as possible after the treatment is finished. Even if it is not a crown yet. Cavit only last so long, depending on how much, the force on the tooth, what you eat, etc. If this leaks, you then need to have the tooth "retreated" - rct done again. You pay all over again.
