In brief: Allergy Testing

Allergy testing by a board certified allergist will help you determine what you are allergic to.
Pollens, molds, animal danders, and some insects are the most common causes of allergic nose and chest symptoms. Food allergies may be associated with some types of rashes and some gastrointestinal problems.

In brief: Finding out

There are three ways to find out about inhalent allergies.
Skin testing is the most accurate, rast testing (blood testing) is good, and sometimes it is just obvious to a certified allergist by taking a good history.

Skin testing is the gold standard for inhaled allergens such as pollen or animal dander. A new alternative is an ige blood test which can also check for food allergies.
