In brief: ? pathology in groin

If the numbness is in thigh on same side as pain, then there may be some problem in groin causing pressure on femoral nerve causing numbness of thigh.
See a neurologist.

In brief: Best to see a doctor

There are a number of things that could cause groin/hip pain with a numb leg.
An arterial clot (an emergency) could cause pain; typically the leg would be pale and cool and painful. A nerve being pinched can also cause pain/numbness. Depending on the setting, it could be important to find out what is pinching the nerve. Proper evaluation of such symptoms requires a physical exam.
