Are the recent news stories correct, that women should have a pap smear every 3 years instead of eve?

In brief: Yes

A low risk pt, no new sexual partners, with several normal pap's can go to a 3 yr cycle.
Remember your health exam is about more than pap smears. It's about preventing breast cancer, ovarian cancer and heart disease. So even if you don't need the pap you still need an exam.
