My 85 year old grandfather fell and fractured a vertebra. What is the recovery time for such an injury?

In brief: 4-6weeks

If it is compression fracture not complicated.
Also there is menially invasive surgery we could do called: vertebroplasty this procedure is effective for relieving pain from spinal compression fractures and helping to stabilize the fracture.

In brief: 1-8 wks

A compressed vertebra if min needs no rx & will gradually heal.
A brace will help more severe, pain wise, buy not time wise. Those that r quite severe can have a procedure called a verteboplasty done by a radiology interventualist. They inject bone cement into the vertebra & when it sets, 10-15 after injection the fx is stable and there is minimal 2 no pain.
