What does a standard stool sample test for?

Occult blood. The single most common test done on a stool sample is a very sensitive test for any blood in the stool; it is 'occult' because there is no blood one can see by sight. It is used as a screen for blood cells that could come from any place in the GI tract, even some blood in the mouth, like gums. It may serve to help find a cause of anemia or a screen for colon disorders; colonoscopy may come next.
Tests. What do you mean by 'standard test'? There are many things that can be tested for. Iff however you mean 'stool cards' they are typically looking for hidden (also known as occult) blood. Please follow the directions carefully to obtain the most accurate result.
