In brief: Yes

Each medicine must be adjusted to optimal dose (the highest tolerated dose that is reasonable & effective).
If one med helps but does not resolve symptoms then adding another may achieve better response. Sometimes a med helps but causes side effects at higher dose & adding a second med may achieve desired response with less adverse effect at lower doses of each medicine.

In brief: Adjunct medication

If optimal control of adhd can't be achieved with either methylphenidate or amphetamine, adding a non-stimulant can help.
Strattera (atomoxetine) takes 4-6 weeks to work, so wait a month before titrating down the stimulant dose. Intunive is the only med. Clinically indicated for use as either an adjunct or monotherapy; many insurances won't pay for both strattera (atomoxetine) & a stimulant. Lilly needs to get fda approval.

Give Strattera with dinner to avoid stomach upset as well as to have the somnolence that occurs the first couple of weeks at night.
