In brief: Change diet.

Allergies often have their rrot cause in intestinal dysfunction.
In chinese medicine, it is said that 95% of all illness in children under 5 stems form digestive disorder. We take a good history, suggest dietary changes, refer to appropriate specialists when indicated and suggest nontraditional treatments in conjunction with parental cooperation.

In brief: Speak to your

child's pediatrician.
They may refer you to an allergist for testing, depending on the exact symptoms and age of your child. If the symptoms are mostly nasal congestion and/or itchy eyes/nose, and he or she is over the age of 2, an over-the-counter allergy medicine such as Claritin, Zyrtec or Allegra may help, but it's definitely best to speak to his/her doctor first.

In brief: Much to do

The most important aspect is identifying the trigger such that avoidance measures can be taken.
If avoidance of allergen is not practical or only partially effective, there are many medications available with few side effects. If avoidance and medications haven't controlled symptoms, allergy injections are available for environmental and insect sting allergies. An allergist can direct you.
