In brief: Up to 24 hours

From ivf experience, the egg loses its ability to fertilize 1 day after it is collected from the ovary.
In a natural cycle, the woman is fertile for 1 day after she ovulates. To maximize conception, intercourse should occur for 3 consecutive days after the LH surge.

The egg lives ~24 hours after ovulation and thus the sperm need to wait for the egg.
Sperm can live 3-5 days in the cervix and uterus, while they die in about an hour in the vagina. Therefore, out of millions of sperm, only a few thousand make it into the cervix or uterus. Inseminations (iui) can increase this number to millions.

The later u conceive during ovulation higher chance of female child the fresh sperm has more y so more male conception later the male sperms die and will have higher incidence of female child since x sperms able to cope better with stress - i guess we adapt even before birth.
