In brief: Alcohol at bedtime

Alcohol at bedtime may help you fall in sleep, but not recommended for insomnia, you might develop tolerance to the alcohol , also can cause early morning awakening with nightmares and insomnia.

In brief: Yes, but just one.

Alcohol is actually a reasonable sleep aid, if used sporadically.
A small amount promotes some relaxation and at that time of day some sleepiness as well. Two drinks may be enough in some people to actually have a negative impact on their overall night's sleep. The other problem is that if you have an alcoholic drink every night then over time one drink will start to loose it's usefulness.
