Any moderate exercise is good to do but can often after a while get boring and may lead to you stopping, especially for beginners.
Variety is key to making it fun. However, if you don't have time or the resources to do other kids of exercises, keep it going. For more advanced exercises, cross training is important to work other sets of muscles to will augment one overall strength.
