In brief: Ovulation

Is when the egg is released and that is the time a person can get pregnant.
Ovulation occurs about 14 days before the next period is due to start.

In brief: Not possible

Before ovulation, it impossible for a woman to get pregnant from her own egg that she is expecting to come out of her ovary (because the egg is still in the ovary).
This means she can only get pregnant after she ovulates, because her egg is out of the ovary after ovulation. Of course, she can have sex before ovulation, and she can get pregnant from that sex if the sperm survive until ovulation.
