In brief: Avoid that mouthwash

Many of the otc mouthwashes contain various chemicals (like alcohol) that may be very caustic to the oral cavity.
As has been suggested first try a rinse like oral balance or biotene to help reduce the burn. If this is still of no help, see your dentist to try to determine if there is some other reason that this is happening.

In brief: You don't have to

That burning and thirst sensations are probably from the alcohol contents of the mouthwash , most of the over the counter ones do have a percentage that vary from 10/40% in volume .
Try a none alcohol containing mouth rinses like plax or biotene , they come in other flavors than mint.
