Otosclerosis is "stiffening" of the bones of the middle ear.
In the past high dose flouride was a recommended treatment but it is not accepted treatment at this time. The options are 1) observe 2) hearing aid 3) surgery. The surgey should be done by a special ENT surgeon... An otologist. If the local ENT has not referred you for a second opinion you should seek one out.
