In brief: Rotating medicines

Seborrheic dermatitis, or inflammatory dandruff, is best treated by alternating a variety of anti-dandruff shampoos, such as zinc pyrithione (ex head and shoulders), selenium sulfide, a tar-based shampoo (like t-gel) or ciclopirox (loprox).
Shampoo is applied to wet hair, and left for 5-10 minutes and then rinsed. Despite its dry appearance, the hair should be washed frequently.
