Parasites (worms) can cause diarrhea and interfere with weight gain.
Transmission of parasites normally occurs through consumption of contaminated food or water, however it is possible for a mother that has parasites (e.g. Toxoplasma gondii) to pass them to her unborn child. Please see your health provider for evaluation and treatment.
