In brief: Schizophrenia

Nobody know for sure.
Twin studies suggest there is a genetic component. Other risk factors may include viral infection in the mother during pregnancy, maternal malnutrition during pregnancy, stress early in life, childhood abuse or trauma, older parents, and drug use.

In brief: Not sure

What you mean. Schizophrenia is not a disease you can catch like a cold.
Rather there seems to be a perfect storm of environment and genetcs that has to happen for the illness to occur.

In brief: Probably genetically

That doesn't mean if you have a genetic predisposition you will get the disorder though.
The odds are higher that you can but no one can predict what will happen. Your best defense is learning as much as you can about mental illnesses you may have seen in your family and living your life in the best possible way physically, emotionally and yes, spiritually in your own way. Positive is preventive.
