Not sure. What you mean. Schizophrenia is not a disease you can catch like a cold. Rather there seems to be a perfect storm of environment and genetcs that has to happen for the illness to occur.
Probably genetically. That doesn't mean if you have a genetic predisposition you will get the disorder though. The odds are higher that you can but no one can predict what will happen. Your best defense is learning as much as you can about mental illnesses you may have seen in your family and living your life in the best possible way physically, emotionally and yes, spiritually in your own way. Positive is preventive.
We used to think. That schizophrenia was due to inadequate parenting. Unfortunately, blame was placed on parents and families; however, although the environment can play a part in making things worse, the cause is probably physiological.
