In brief: DEPENDS.

Well this could be many things but sudden memory loss can be due to medications, head injury, stroke, mini stroke, TIA (transient ischemic accident) , extreme stress or traumatic event.
Would definitely consult a physician.

In brief: Many possibilities

Is it sudden? That may just be a routine drawing a blank or it could be a more serious symptom of a neurologic problem. If you mean you can't recall specific events for the first time, that might feel like a sudden thing.
Severe anxiety or brain trauma can cause it. You may "suddenly" realize your memory is slipping in day to day activities. It's troubling you so get an evaluation by your doctor.
