In brief: Eating & Dysmorphia

Body dysmorphia (thinking one's body is not good enough) affects men and women, and can be associated with the mental health disorders anorexa nervosa and bulimia.
Body dysmoprhia can also lead to depression, obsessive-compulsive behavior and dangerous risk-taking.

In brief: Role of Biology

Studies have shown that women with body image distortions have increased blood flow to the temporal regions of the brain compared to those without body image distortions.
This blood flow pattern is similar to what is seen in people with other misperceptions and delusions. This is not to say one is delusional but to be aware that biology has a role in creating this condition.
