In brief: Fever/sore throat
A low grade fever and sore throat with swelling and redness of the tonsils.
It is caused by chlamydia trachomatis. The symptoms will continue to worsen until treatment is sought. Decreased appetite can be seen due to the sore throat. Symptoms are similar to the flu.

In brief: Sore throat
Chlamydia infection of the mouth and throat is rare.
Most sexually transmitted chlamydia infections affect the genitals. A throat infection with chlamydia would be suspected in anyone with a sore throat and an active genital infection due to chlamydia. Suspicion for chlamydia pharyngitis would also increase if a patient informs their doctor of their participation in unprotected oral sex.
