In brief: See a dentist

See a dentist or oral surgeon.
It may be a benign swelling you are just now noting (palatal tori), it could be an infected tooth, with the pus and inflammatory fluids working the path of least resistance to drain, it amy also be a cyst. An oral surgeon will be able to differentially diagnose and help you. There is no real remedy you can do other than call for appt. Rinse with warm salt water.

In brief: Usually time is best

It depends on why you have swelling.
But mostly time helps. You may be able to suck on ice as cold can sometimes reduce swelling.
