My sister has a leaking heart valve and she is 27 could she have go get a pacemaker when she gets older?

Unlikely. Valvular heart disease is a "plumbing" problem while arrhythmias and pacemakers are more electrical issues. Of course, there is some overlap, but generally speaking, those are somewhat unrelated issues. Leaking heart valves, if significant, may eventually require medication or even intervention or surgery. Pacemakers are not really part of the therapy unless a rhythm problem eventually develops. Read more...

Can minor heart valve leak get worse from lifting heavy stuff? EKG showed depression, 2 years ago, stress test okay then. EKG showed same thing again.

Heavy lifting. does not directly effect a heart valve leak....it may raise the blood pressure and pulse thus making a murmur sound "louder" but the actual structure of the heart is unchanged by the lifting itself BTW I am "confused" a bit about the "depressions" noted on your EKG..some valve problems lead to heart muscle enlargement..(and ST segment depression) again...lifting has only transient effects! Sometimes. Nothing available for the mitral or tricuspid valves yet, but the aortic valve can be replaced with a transcatheter inserted valve. This is not for everyone though. It is still considered rather experimental, and reserved only for those who are unable to have open heart surgery. I look forward to advances in these procedures, and hope one day there is a routine, non-ohs alternative. Read more...
