Several roles. Social workers can play many roles in the lives of children with mental health problems. Two of the more common is helping to gain access to helpful services and providing direct counseling services. This can be done through both private and public agencies, within and outside of a hospital or clinic.
Social workers. Social workers can be extremely helpful in doing psychotherapy/playtherapy with children, and doing work with parents and family to help children. Social workers also have great expertise in finding therapeutic resources in the community and coordinating children's mental health care with their school environment.
