In brief: Phobic avoidance

Avoidance can be related to self image issues and self esteem.
Coping with your phobia involves desensitization and graduated exposure. Trust yourself. U can do it.

In brief: We all age

Agorophobia is a fear of being in open spaces.
It is unlikely to be caused by low self esteem.

In brief: Rationalizing fear?

Self esteem issues show up in many different forms.
Also, people commonly rationalize their avoidance behaviors -- could this be happening here? In agoraphobia, you avoid situations you fear might cause panic attacks. You may have a hard time feeling safe in any public place, especially where crowds gather. Therapy for both your anxiety and concerns about your looks is available! good luck.
