How do I treat microcytosis?

In brief: Fe supplements
If the microcytosis is due to low iron, then increased dietary intake is part of the answer. The most absorbed form of iron is in red meat (but that has its own health problems).
Unfortunately, plant-based iron is not as well absorbed in humans as in meat sources. Thus, iron tablets may be necessary (very little is absorbed). If severe or anemic, a blood transfusion or IV iron may be necessary.
