Where is iron absorbed in your body?

Small Intestines. Many menstruating women suffer with iron deficiency anemia. This may occur due to heavier periods, poor iron intake, or both. Pregnant women need extra iron to produce a large amount of blood preparing for delivery. Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach, and also with vitamin c supplement; acid improves absorption. Sometimes iron is difficult to tolerate, upset stomach or constipation.
Small intestine. Iron is absorbed in the small intestine, which comes after the stomach. Most nutrients are absorbed here.
