Alcohol actually has minimal effects on the kidney (one of the few organs one can say that about).
In people with very severe liver disease (cirrhosis), a form of kidney failure can occur called hepatorenal syndrome. Outside of that, it doesn't really cause problems. Avoid alcohol, eat healthy, take a multivitamin, exercise, don't smoke.
