In brief: Few / Minimal
There are some minimal risks when using botox.
Bruising (<5%), swelling, discomfort, headache, eyelid or brow drooping (exceedingly rare). Of course any medication taken inappropriately can have serious side effects. Botox has a very safe track record now for 20+ years. You should avoid Botox while pregnant or breast feeding and if you have any neurological conditions. Hope this helps!

The vast majority of patients who are properly injected with Botox have no or minimal side effects.

In brief: Several
Cosmetic Botox injections are generally safe and side effects are rare.
Most common side effect is bruising, especially when injecting in the crow's feet areas. Rarely, some develop headache, eyebrow droop or eyelid droop. Because Botox only lasts for 3 months, these affects will resolve with time. In the case of eyelid droop, it can be helped by iopidine eyedrops.

In brief: Botox side effects
Side effects of Botox depends on where it is injected but localized bruising and swelling can be seen.
Cosmetic Botox injected on the forehead/crows feet, some people can develop headaches, flu like symptoms as well as have double vision if injected close to their eyes. There can be a drop of the eyebrow as well depending on where it is injected. Usually Botox is very well tolerated.

In brief: Unwanted drooping
A massive dose of botulinum toxin, such as would occur with botulism food poisoning could cause paralysis of muscles needed for breathing, possibly leading to death.
Because the amount used is so small and nowhere near the critical muscles, this is not a concern with cosmetic botox. Realistically: temporary bruising, unwanted drooping, headaches and rarely blurred and double vision have occurred.
