In brief: NYC CoolSculpting
Fat removal can be accomplished with zeltiq's coolsculpting, a non-invasive freezing technology that kills the fat cells in a one hour per site treatment during which your comfortable.
The average result was shown by ultrasound to reduce 20% of fat volume by four months. Some patients can repeat the treatment every three months a few times with increasing improvement. There is minimal downtime.

In brief: Removal of fat
CoolSculpting is a machine that draws fat into a suction cup and then cools the tissue.
The cooling freezes the fat. The fat cells die. Improvement in contour is usually seen 8-12 weeks later. Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon to see your individual situation. Together you will go over the multiple options.

In brief: Yes
Although liposuction is still the gold standard for removing localized areas of fat that don't respond to diet and exercise, there are 2 technologies that can reduce localized fat noninvasively.
Zeltiq uses cryotherapy, and liposonix uses highly focused ultrasound. Both of these are fda-cleared as of september 2011 but they do lower volumes of reduction than liposuction.

In brief: Noninvasive fat loss
CoolSculpting takes advantage of the fact that fat cells are more susceptible to cold than other cells.
It essentially freezes the fat cells and then your body breaks them down and disposes of the cells as waste. It results in a permanent reduction of 20-25% in the fat layer. For more information on CoolSculpting see: http://www.omahacosmeticsurgery.com/non-surgical-procedures/coolsculpting/

In brief: A bunch of options.
Yes there are numerous new treatment options with mixed resutls.
These include mesotherapy, injection lipolysis, radiofrequency (thermage), cryolipolysis (zeltiq), high frequency ultrasound (liposonix), etc.

If you want to remove fat cells, liposuction is the method of choice.
If you want to lose overall body weight, a good weight loss program is needed. An excellent program is my HCG true diet program, that changes one's metabolism using HCG and a very low calorie diet. But one must also adhere to the lifestyle changes inherent in our program. You read about it in my book, "break the cycle".

In brief: Absolutely
Unfortunately, the only other way involves traditional weight loss by getting the patient to exercise to burn more calories than the patient is taking in.
This works well for many, many people but i need to lose some weight, myself, and so may not be the best one to ask! ;).

In brief: Zeltiq
Zeltiq cool sculpting can remove fat in a similar manner to liposuction.
Improvement from 20-40% can be expected. The best part is that it is totally non invasive. Each area to be treated takes one hour, so patients getting multiple areas treated bring their laptop or watch a good movie.

You can reduce fat and it's impact on the skin surface but technically, you are not removing fat.

In brief: Liposonix
As of dec 2011, i'm the first in the U.
S. To offer liposonix, the first fda approved noninvasive fat melting device. It uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (hifu) to cause permanent lysis or destruction of fat cells, nonsurgical liposuction. It's approved for abdomen and flanks but can be used off-label on other body parts. You can lose at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of fat per treatment per area.

In brief: Yes, by using it up
A surgeon can remove fat cells containing the fat, but the person will regain fat in stranger places (where the remaining fat cells are) if he overeats later. If a person eats fewer calories than he needs to live on each day, his body will use the stored fuel (fat).
If a person exercises more than he did before, but does not start eating more calories, then his body will also use the stored fat.
