If you've been sober for over a year should you still take antabuse (disulfiram)?

In brief: RIsk of Relapse?

One needs to be always concerned by the possibility of relapse, i.
e. Restarting drinking alcoholic beverages. This question needs to be shared with your physician and counsellor (drug and alcohol, psychologist, minister). Medications such as antabuse, (disulfiram) or the new monthly injection vivitrol, are only part of one's important options to stay well. Finding a compatible support group has helped many!

In brief: Depends

Are you on it by your own free will or is it mandated.
If it is your choice and you feel you have a good recovery and support, are not having very many or strong cravings and you discuss it with your medical professionl it may may time to try and stop. Have you had any relapses? If not and your motives are to stay sober it may be ok. If you want to drink probably not and talk with someone.
