In brief: Dangerous Actions
Alcohol can dangerously interact with Ambien (zolpidem) and create serious memory lapses and/or hallucinations.
Driving can be seriously impaired and something called sleep inertia can occur. Do not combine these two substances under any circumstances.

In brief: Very bad things
Ambien (zolpidem) even alone can cause blackouts (lack of memory of what you are doing), hallucinations, and bizarre activities while asleep - eating, driving, having sex - with no memory of it later. Alcohol increases the chances of all of these things happening, and is contraindicated.
It will say that on the prescribing information, on the bottle and in the pdr. Don't do it!
